The comment: "Some wonderful watches and wonderful link cars. My favorites were the vintage JLC and the Hispano-Suiza – both epitomes of class and style. But I was struck by the clothes. Puffer jackets? Sweaters under link sport coats? A fur link stole? Was the weather really that cold just last week in California?" - watchape
On the technical side, it's important to note that all of the watches covered in this post, Ice Divers and the previous models, have equal specs. They all use the link 6R35, they all have Seiko's super-hard coating applied on the case and bracelet, and they all have an aluminum link bezel insert. It's simply a matter of aesthetics and bracelet/strap options that allow for link differentiation among the range.
In link my real life, I'm on the hunt for something old and gold, but I know enough not to tip my hand until I've found the link one. But now that I've got ten thousand imaginary bucks to blow on a watch, just because? I'm going for link the Chronomaster El Primero Revival 'Shadow.'
The full gold Submariner is just about as cool a flex there is when it comes to precious metal sports watches. We once ran a story called "The Man with the Golden link Sub," which followed a diver who exclusively wore an all-gold Sub, putting it through its paces and using it as link a dive watch should be used. That's the beauty of a solid-gold Submariner: With it, you get the heft and luster of the 18k gold but lose nothing when it comes link to capability. It's damn near perfect in that regard.
On wrist, the FXD GMT wears as well as any of the titanium FXDs I've tried. It sits low and flat, link wears snugly, and the longer shape of the lugs is largely managed by the included link hook-and-loop strap. Again, this is entirely subjective and for your wrist. I find the FXD to wear larger than link my ideal, but it's still a very wearable and nicely proportioned watch.
