Shanghai – Brazilian supermodel Alessandra Ambrósio, an emblematic face of the Victoria's Secret brand and indisputably one of the sexiest women on the planet, walked the runway for the final time last night in Shanghai.
Since the announcement that Shanghai would host this year's fashion show, rumors circulated predicting Ambrósio’s departure. The 36-year-old supermodel announced to Entertainment Tonight her final departure after 17 years with Victoria’s Secret. She will devote herself to her family, her swimsuit line "Ale by Alessandra" and her career as an actress. Victoria's Secret will not be the same without Ambrósio.
Born in Erechim Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, Ambrósio made her debut in the biggest fashion show of the world in 2000. She became the first spokesmodel for Victoria's Secret Pink in 2006. In 2008, just three months after giving birth to her eldest daughter, Anja Louise, Ambrósio walked the show, an unexpected record for newborn model-moms. While pregnant of her son, Noah Phoenix in 2011, she wore the Passion Play Fan Wings weighing 30 pounds (the heaviest wings ever) with 23-carat gold and 105,000 Swarovski gems designed by Manik Mercian in Sydney, Australia.
She wore the fantasy bra twice in 2012 and 2014. She opened and closed the show in 2016 alongside her Brazilian friend and top model, Adriana Lima.
Last night in Shanghai, her remarkable journey, which includes 17 fashion shows, ended but not before she solidified her place as one of the greatest supermodels of the world.
