Alta Agua Cup - Careyes Mexico 2025

Costa Careyes, Jalisco – With a display of international talent, excitement, and elegance, the 25th edition of the Agua Alta Polo Cup, Mexico's most prestigious international tournament, was held with great success.

In the idyllic setting of the Costa Careyes Polo Club, history was written in gold letters thanks to the Quinto Sol Range Rover team's three-time championship.

A High-Flying Final

After a vibrant week of competition in Costalegre, the Quinto Sol Range Rover team once again lifted the cup after defeating the Agua Alta UBS team in the final.

The winning team was made up of a multinational lineup: Portuguese Manuel Matos Gil, Mexican Martín Vidrio, and Peruvians Rodrigo Vieljeux and Guillermo Málaga, who defeated the rival quartet consisting of Italian Milo Ardissone, Mexican Diego Solórzano, and Colombians Matías Uribe and Pablo Sarmiento.

In the duel for third place, Mast Marine Hublot—with Diego Aguilar, Mariano Gómez de Parada, Guillermo “Chino” Li, and Federico Uribe—took the podium after defeating San Acasio-Renewis-Chivas Regal, a team led by Guillermo Jiménez, Diego González, Valerio Aguilar from Mexico, and Martín Huertas from Colombia.

Individual Awards and Best Playing Ponies

Individual talent was also recognized. Guillermo Málaga was named professional MVP, while the amateur MVP award went to Milo Ardissone, who stood out not only for his skill but also for his composure in key moments. Young Colombian Matías Uribe took home the tournament›s top scorer, and the award for Best Professional Playing Pony went to Rodrigo Vieljeux' «Estafa.» In the amateur category, the best horse was «Punta,» ridden by Milo Ardissone.

La Perla-Careyes shines in the Agua Baja Cup

At the same time, the Agua Baja Cup, a 4-goal handicap tournament, was held, where La Perla was crowned champion after a perfect tournament. The team, which included players from Guadalajara and Careyes, featured the only woman in the tournament—Coco Sandhu (USA)—along with Juan Pablo Gallegos (Mexico), Conrad Kissling (Germany), and Joel Acosta (Mexico), defeated the fierce Costalegre Los Hermanos - Four Seasons Tamarindo team in the final, comprised of Chris and Will Falk (USA), Vale Aguilar (Mexico), and David Buller (Canada).

Third place went to the 100% Mexican team Eiro Bravo Viparmex, with José Ramón Fernández, Santiago Fernández, Alejandro de Souza, and Miguel Gómez de Parada, who defeated the young Sotogrande team, made up of emerging talents such as Shah Safi (Can), Fausto Otharán, Bauti Elliot (Arg), and Dante Munguia, supported by Sony Safi (Can) and Tommy Elliot.

Among the individual awards, Joel Acosta was named professional MVP, while Will Falk earned the amateur MVP award. Conrad Kissling was the tournament›s top scorer. Regarding the equines, Coco Sandhu's «Luminoso» was named best amateur pony, and Vale Aguilar›s «Mamba» took the title in the professional category.

A quarter-century of legacy and passion

The awards ceremony was emotional not only because of the level of competition, but also because of the posthumous tribute paid to Kari Ardissone; Special recognition was given to Alberto Ardissone, founder of the Agua Alta Cup, who was recognized for his tireless work during these 25 years of tradition and for the celebration of his 80th birthday. A fitting tribute to someone who has been a pillar of the development of Mexican polo.

With this anniversary edition, the Agua Alta Cup in Careyes reaffirms its place as the most important polo event in the country, combining sporting excellence, cultural diversity, and the incomparable atmosphere of Careyes in Costalegre, Jalisco.
