The Rock isn’t easing up on his support of social distancing measures. And he’s got the face masks to prove it.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and his Project Rock athletic apparel line from Under Armour just launched a reusable face mask designed for athletes. The face-covering is available now on the retailer’s website for $35.
The mask, which launched on October 16, is already the No. 1 selling item from the long-standing Project Rock x Under Armor line, according to a post from the man himself on Instagram.
Under Armor says the Project Rock face mask “the perfect one for athletes,” calling special attention to the mask’s airflow, cool feel and comfort fit. It’s worth noting that the mask appears to be a variation of Under Armor’s face mask, which launched earlier this week with similar features and an almost identical look.
As far as aesthetics go, the navy-blue mask features The Rock's famous Brahma Bull logo, a staple of any Project Rock launch. But the quality and health specs are what makes this product worth talking about.
The three-layer Project Rock face mask has a water-resistant outer layer and an antimicrobial inner layer to keep the mask fresh. A middle layer is made of polyurethane open-cell foam, which lets air through but makes it hard for moisture and sweat to pass. The inner layer and ear loops are also made of innovative cooling fabric for comfort during workouts. Plus, the mask is washable and reusable.
The Project Rock mask comes in sizes XS/S through XL/XXL, guaranteeing a snug yet comfortable fit. A sizing chart on the product page can help you find the perfect size with one simple measurement, as your face mask sizing isn't likely a thing you know. The mask also has an adjustable nose bridge and stretchy side panels for even more customization.
The Rock, who recently battled COVID-19 along with his entire family, has been a vocal advocate for mask-wearing and other safety precautions throughout the pandemic. In a September Instagram video announcing his diagnosis, Johnson stressed the importance of masks in slowing the spread of COVID-19.
“It baffles me that some people out there, including some politicians, will take this idea of wearing masks and make it part of a political agenda," Johnson said in the video. "It has nothing to do with politics. Wear a mask. It is a fact. It is the right thing to do, and it’s the responsible thing to do.”
