WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Local luxury car and wine connoisseurs gathered at Shadowbrook Winery in anticipation of the Bentley GT Convertible unveiling. Over wine and appetizer pairings, guests admired a wide selection of the Bentley line, including the Bentayga SUV. The dramatic unveiling involved frosted glass, mood lighting and champagne. As the baby blue GT convertible was revealed, car enthusiasts flooded toward the shiny automobile, to test its bucket seats and inspect notable detailings at a closer range. Truly a car worthy of the Bentley collection.
But the real difference lies with the legendary Eric Haze, who used the watch as his canvas, adding his trademark pattern of stars, arrows, and crowns onto the gloss black IP-finished stainless steel link bracelet through a dot-pattern laser engraving. On the back, you'll find G-Shock's 40th Anniversary logo mark (also designed by Haze) on the screw-lock caseback cover, with a DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating. All link this comes link in packaging designed by – you guessed it – Eric Haze, and costs $720.
Light blue is link a trendier link pick, though at least it's a few shades away from that other light-blue Patek. It does feel very Patek that, for its "colorful Calatravas," it'd choose the three link primary colors. No reason to spin the color wheel around too far.
Controversially, and like the 925, the 18K has link a display case back. Specific to this watch is a pair of included straps – a brown alligator strap and a green/gold fabric strap, both fitted with matching 18-karat gold hardware. No gold bracelet is offered, and without it, the Black Bay 18K only weighs 103 grams and doesn’t wear all that differently from any other version of the Fifty-Eight, which is not surprising given its similar weight link and link stock mount options.
You mentioned link your passion for design, and you're well-known for being much more involved than many executives are link in the design process. Many executives will see a design, approve it or give link notes – and that's it. How early are you involved?
Every wristwatch – or just about every wristwatch link – owes some aspect of its design to its antecedents in the history of watchmaking. I can't think of another watch link that even remotely approaches the Crash. The Crash link is a radical re-imaging of the most basic elements of the dress watch.
